  1. International Olympic Day or World Olympic Day is annually observed across the globe on 23 June to honor the establishment of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) at Sorbonne, Paris on 23 June, 1894 and encourage the principles upheld by the Olympic Movement. The theme of International Olympic Day 2023 is “Let’s Move”.
  2. United Nations’ International Widows Day is annually observed on 23 June to raise awareness about the challenging circumstances faced by countless widows and to provide the unique support they need. The theme of International Widows Day 2023 is “Innovation and technology for gender equality”. 
  3. United Nations’ Public Service Day is observed annually on 23 June across the globe to highlight the contribution of public officials in development and progress.
  4. Estonia’s parliament on 20 June, 2023 passed a law legalising same-sex marriage, making it the first central European nation (Baltic nation) to do so.
  5. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) awarded Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus, the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), with the Olympic Order for his valuable support in fostering cooperation between the IOC and the WHO.
  6. American Wyndham Clark won his first major title, the 123rd US Open by defeating four time major winner Rory Mcllroy.
  7. Hasmukh Adhia, a senior retired bureaucrat and former Union Finance Secretary and Revenue Secretary, has been named as the Chairman of GIFT City Ltd.
  8. The High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka, Gopal Baglay, and the Secretary of the Sri Lankan Ministry of Education, M.N. Ranasinghe, exchanged diplomatic notes regarding the implementation of a digital education project in Sri Lanka’s Galle District.

  14. Star Alliance has once again won the title of World’s Best Airline Alliance at the prestigious Skytrax World Airline Awards 2023.
  15. The Yoga Day event organised in Surat city of Gujarat has set a new Guinness World Record for the largest gathering for a yoga session in one place with 1.53 lakh people joining the program.
  16. Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh inaugurated the Integrated Simulator Complex (ISC) ‘Dhruv’ at Southern Naval Command, Kochi on 21 June, 2023.
